SAY YES TO......Diesel Black Gold Fall 2010!

Sophia Kokosalaki's first collection for
Diesel Black Gold = Awesome!
If you didn't know that a new designer had taken the reigns of Diesel Black Gold, you would probably think they had just smartened up their act and developed their signature style in a new direction.
There was the obligatory denim, leather, fur and checks but executed in a sleeker and more feminine way without losing that grunge appeal the label has always had.
It was still cool, rock and roll inspired, with a little flutter of prettiness which has probably been lacking a little bit in the past.
Kokosalaki perfectly balanced the tomboy and pretty girl that every fan of the label yearns to be and I'm pretty sure she has passed her probation period at her new job with flying colours!

Preen Perfection Fall 2010

When I saw Preen's Fall 2010 collection I felt like I had found my collection for Fall 2010.
It's one of those collections that I will still think about in years to come.
The floral, the lace, the mesh, the cutouts, the tailoring and the bursts of intense colour made my heart skip a beat!

Jen Kao Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear

Here are some of my favourites from Jen Kao Fall 2010 collection.

Favourites from Erin Wasson x RVCA Fall 2010

This wasn't really what I was expecting from Erin Wasson x RVCA and from what I have seen so far people have been a little disappointed.
Admittedly the Spring 2010 collection would have been a pretty hard act to follow, but even with all the lukewarm reviews and some ill fitting jumpsuits, I still really liked the Fall 2010 collection.
I think what I like about Erin Wasson x RVCA is seeing her personal style in every look that comes down the runway, she hasn't bowed down to following trends so much that her own style is no longer evident.
Even if I don't personally like every piece in the collection, I like that every piece is personal and the embodiment of Erin Wasson!

New Fashion Week Fall 2010 Colour Trend

I was putting this collage together when I noticed something highly suspicious...... Black, White and everything in between.
A monochromatic colour trend has emerged for Fall 2010!

Vena Cava NYFW Fall 2010

The Vena Cava collection was kind of a mixture of 1970's and 70 year old lady. That may sound like a really bad idea but it was sophisticated and had lots of cool girl appeal.
There was fur, chunky tribal gold jewellery, fish net stockings, wool with leather trim, sheer lace and silk culotte shorts.
My favourite look was the grey wool jacket, dark grey tee, fur stole and the silk culotte shorts, check it out below.

So Sad

I was really surprised to find out that Alexander McQueen had committed suicide. I guess it just goes to show that you can be adored by millions of people around the world and still feel desperately hopeless and alone.
It is unimaginable what the McQueen family must be going through losing two family members in two weeks, they must be absolutely devastated.
He was a true innovator and pioneer of fashion that has always followed his own vision and he will undoubtedly be missed.

Pop Sweet Love's first post ever!

Well this is my first post ever and I have to say that I'm pretty excited that I have set my blog up just in time for New York Fashion Week.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes out of Charlotte Ronson, Rebecca Taylor and 3.1 Phillip Lim's shows.
I was pretty skeptical of Charlotte Ronson (because of the whole celebrity family thing) but her spring 2010 collection was one of my favorites for the season as well as Erin Wasson x RVCA (of which I was also pretty wary of for similar reasons).

I'm interested in Rebecca Taylor this season because she has this uncanny ability for cramming millions of different prints into one look and making it seem so right (this is not a talent that many can claim to possess) and I'm hoping that she can pull it off with the same freakish ease that she did last season.

3.1 Phillip Lim is always pretty cool, I really liked the crop singlets with the scalloped edges and the leather dress he did for Spring 2010.

Spare a thought for all the designers showing at NYFW, they probably haven't slept, showered or eaten in days and they are probably curled up in a ball under their seamstresses sewing machine as we speak, attempting to cry themselves to sleep, trying to make it all go away.

So since this is my first post I decided to put together a few of the things that I wish I was wearing, listening to, using and enjoying this week. I think that this will probably become a fairly regular part of my blog because I need to dream and get all the coveting out of my system and what better place to dream and remove the crushing guilt of coveting than pop sweet love, right?Pop Sweet Love No.1
